Install it from the launcher menu: Launcher version → Beta. Once everything is polished, the changes go into a release.

What changed since release 2.4.2:

⚡️ Updates are dozens of times lighter

The launcher no longer downloads itself whole (only once more — on the next update). It takes only the changed parts and rebuilds the rest from installed files. A launcher update is a few megabytes instead of 200, a fresh mod-encyclopedia database about 20 MB instead of 374. Everything is signature-checked, and if something fails the launcher downloads the full update as before. The first such download comes with the next update after this beta; the encyclopedia database is already downloaded in pieces.

Share your mod setup — it will ship with RickLauncher

Ready-made setups in RickLauncher grow slower than we would like — so share yours.

In the launcher, click “⋯” next to the profile → “Copy RLink module set”.

Paste it into the comments of the Telegram post with a short description of the setup.

We check it, and with the next update it appears in everyone’s launcher.

RickEncyclopedia 1.0.3.7 — updates 20× lighter

⚡️ Updates are dozens of times lighter

Any database update used to mean downloading the whole thing — almost 400 MB, even if a hundred mods had changed. Now the encyclopedia downloads only what changed: about 20 MB instead of 374 this time. The app updates in pieces too: a few megabytes instead of the whole archive. If the connection drops, the update resumes where it stopped. Everything downloaded is still checked against our signature.

Crash Doctor 2.2.0.4 — six new protections

Already on Steam Workshop — it updates itself. RickLauncher delivers it automatically. Everything done since 15 September in one release. Bannerlord 1.2 / 1.3.15 / 1.4.x — one install for all versions.

⚠️ Our own bugs first

On some installs (very rarely!) the Doctor itself crashed the game whenever a party’s roster changed. The mod carries two builds of itself — for 1.2 and for 1.3 and newer — and picks the right one at launch. Both had the same name, and on some installs the game picked up the 1.2 build instead. The builds now have different names, and the loader refuses the wrong one and says so in the log.

The “destroyed parties came back to the map” save repair never worked — it checked parties before loading had placed them. Worse, on every repeated load within one game session it reported a repair that never happened. Rewritten: the map is now checked after loading finishes.

When the game ran on .NET Core, the
report.txt
crash report was not written at all — one line about memory size crashed the whole file. Fixed.

The culture the Doctor gives to troops without one came from the first campaign of the session. In the second and later campaigns the game received an object from a campaign that no longer existed. It now comes from the current one.

🛡 Six new protections

On by default, each with its own switch on the Crash Fixes tab.

DUST: developer diary №1 and the new Jackal car

The first issue of the Developer Diary is an introduction: what DUST is, what we drive, where we fight and how the game got to 0.0.6.20. The journal (PDF, in Russian) is in the Telegram post.

The Jackal is in the game

The new starter car. An all-rounder: takes a hit well, accelerates decently and forgives mistakes on ramps. The main thing is the build: hood, roll cage, suspension, bumpers, spoiler, roof turret, flamethrower, rockets, mines or nitro. One car can become a rammer, a sniper or a minelayer.

Crash breakdown: why it matters which launcher starts your game

Someone wrote in Discord: TOR crashes. We started digging — three hours of logs and reports later we found the problem. A short explainer follows.

A player on Bannerlord 1.3.15 with The Old Realms reported that the game crashed as soon as they opened the inventory or the loot screen after a battle. It crashed without Crash Doctor too — they installed the mod to find the cause.

DUST: two new maps and an early-access installer

Two new off-road maps:

Dried Sea — from a sea of dunes to a river: soft sand or a line of jumps along the ridges, a ford and a run along the riverbed. Video: sunset.

Iron Bridge Canyon — down into the canyon: five fords along the bottom or a dry ledge above the river and a bridge over the gorge. Video: sandstorm.

The early-access installer is on Telegram.

DUST now officially runs on Linux

Unity now builds natively for Linux, so DUST officially runs on two platforms — Windows and Linux, Steam Deck included. The game ran through Proton before, but a native build means proper support and its own launcher.

To be honest: the Linux build is not fully optimised yet, and frame drops are possible on weak hardware and on Steam Deck. We are working on it.

Europe 1700: a musket fix and a ready setup for the launcher

I decided to play Europe 1700 — the mod with muskets — and noticed a nasty trait: it is boring. Troops have to come within about twenty metres of each other before they start hitting anything, even with a fully upgraded troop line. And three to six hits did not take a unit down, so the game quickly got dull.

RickLauncher 2.4.2 — a big reliability update

A big reliability update: we checked the whole launcher and fixed everything we found.

🛡 Your mods and saves are safe

If the profiles file is damaged or briefly locked by an antivirus or OneDrive, the launcher no longer deletes anything.

Rolling back to a previous launcher version does not touch profiles created later.

“Replace setup” no longer wipes the files of the new install.

Restoring from a backup changes data only after full extraction, and cancelling spoils nothing.

A damaged settings file no longer wipes your Nexus key and Steam sign-in.

🔁 Launching

Europe 1700 and other mods no longer get stuck in a “Mod not fully installed” loop after a game update.

If Windows has lost the Documents folder, the launcher tells you how to get it back instead of failing with an obscure error.

⏹️ Cancel means cancel

Pressed Cancel during an install, update or translation — the launcher stops and does not report an error.

Cancelling one mod stops the whole list.

⬇️ Downloads and setups

A broken download resumes where it stopped.

A server that goes silent no longer hangs the install.

A slow Nexus no longer stops the install of a whole setup.

An interrupted reinstall of a setup no longer drops mods from the profile.

🎯 Mods and updates

A link to a specific GitHub release of a mod installs exactly that release.

The Nexus file you chose is no longer swapped for the main one.

Mods for early game versions (e1.x) are no longer blocked on 1.2 and 1.4.

Declining an update no longer hides all of the mod’s later updates.

🧱 Shaders

A profile with its own shader cache gets the right buttons and questions again.

A build that failed to start names the reason instead of saying “built”.

Error windows of other programs no longer stop the build.

🩺 Crash analysis

More accurate: an old crash folder no longer confuses a fresh report.

TOR-only advice is no longer given when TOR is disabled.

✨ Convenience

The main button is now on the left in every window.

Only what really prevents the game from starting is red; warnings became yellow.

Esc closes windows, Enter confirms.

Startup questions are asked one at a time.

Windows no longer freeze: heavy work runs in the background.

The setup editor asks “save?” before closing a project.

If Steam is unavailable, the launcher does not open the sign-in window but still checks Workshop updates.

🌐 Translations proofread in all six languages: French, Turkish and Chinese are noticeably cleaner.

Calradia Journal № 2 — Realm of Thrones

A five-year-old mod beat them all: 32,823 downloads in eighteen days — more than Diplomacy and RBM. Bannerlord 1.2 / 1.3.15 / 1.4.x — one install for all versions.

⚠️ Our own bug first

On Bannerlord 1.2.10 the Doctor itself broke the wage calculation. A protection installed in the main menu ran a piece of game code too early — the game remembered the failure for good, and every party’s wages read as zero until a restart. Meanwhile the mod counted the consequences as 94,332 “prevented crashes”. Clean 1.2.10 with only Harmony and the Doctor; without the Doctor everything was fine.

Voices of Calradia 1.0.0.24 — War Sails fully voiced

An update to the Russian voiceover: the story, the prologue and the War Sails naval expansion are fully voiced — 833 lines, 2,028 files.
