- Colosseum and Windmill Hill are a fifth wider; tunnels are no longer pitch black
- Early access: free for testers now; active testers will get a key
The first issue of the Developer Diary is an introduction: what DUST is, what we drive, where we fight and how the game got to 0.0.6.20. The journal (PDF, in Russian) is in the Telegram post.
The Jackal is in the game
The new starter car. An all-rounder: takes a hit well, accelerates decently and forgives mistakes on ramps. The main thing is the build: hood, roll cage, suspension, bumpers, spoiler, roof turret, flamethrower, rockets, mines or nitro. One car can become a rammer, a sniper or a minelayer.
What’s new in 0.0.6.20
- Fair damage. The driver is thrown out only by a really hard hit; one collision takes at most a quarter of health.
- Smarter bots. They see obstacles ahead, jump ramps, get back on track and go for ammo.
- Wider arenas. Colosseum and Windmill Hill are about a fifth roomier — as you asked.
- Light. The Colosseum tunnels are no longer pitch black; shadows are softer.
DUST is free for testers right now; later it will be paid, and the most active testers will get a key for free.
