ReleaseRickLauncher2.4.1

RickLauncher 2.4.1 — the first update after 2.4.0

Six days of going through what you sent: mods no longer vanish from the list, Nexus updates pick the right file, the loading window shows up at once.

In short

  • A mod no longer disappears from the list when its author copied a game-expansion header
  • Updating from Nexus takes the file that continues yours, not the newest one on the page
  • No exact version available — the nearest one for your game is used
  • Four new crash breakdowns, a guide and FAQ in six languages

The first update after the big 2.4.0 release: six days of going through what you sent us. The launcher offers it by itself on the next start (“Update” in the header); new users get the installer on GitHub, and if GitHub is unreachable the update comes from our server.

What’s fixed

  • 👁 A mod disappeared from the list although its folder was there. Some authors copy a game expansion’s header into their mod description (Warlords Battlefield does this) — the launcher believed it and treated the mod as part of the game. Now only what the game really ships counts as the game; everything else is a regular mod.
  • 🎯 Updating from Nexus takes the file that continues yours, not the newest one on the page. Many mods keep several main files there — the mod and its add-on, builds for different game versions. An update could install the add-on instead of the mod (RBM → the War Sails submod). Now an add-on is never taken for a new version, and if your file on the page is still current there is simply no update.
  • 📦 No exact version — the nearest one, but for your game. First exactly the one in the setup; if missing — the nearest newer one for this game version; if missing — the nearest older one. A setup whose author removed a file from Nexus now installs instead of stopping, and a setup for game 1.2 is no longer assembled from 1.4 copies in the archives folder.
  • ⏱️ The loading window appears at once. If the archives folder is on an external drive that has “fallen asleep”, the launcher waited up to ten seconds on a blank screen — now it waits in the background.
  • 🐙 A GitHub mod without a pinned release installs by itself; the hidden browser no longer waits for something that will never come.
  • ✨ The “Our mods” button no longer hides because of a mod that is not on disk.
  • 🩺 Four new crash breakdowns: a leaderless clan on the map, a banner on non-existent armour, a soldier’s slot outside the formation, a query to an empty formation during deployment — Crash Doctor intercepts two of them on the fly.
  • 📖 Guide: how the launcher chooses a file on Nexus, plus two new FAQ entries. In all six languages.
